Standing on the highest point within the walled City of Londonderry, St Columb’s Cathedral is the City’s oldest building, having been completed in 1633. It was the first Cathedral in the British Isles to have been built after the Reformation. The erection of the Chancel (1887) and the Chapter House (1910) added to the external appearance of the Cathedral. Many artefacts from the great Siege of 1689 are on display, as well as some fine examples of 17th century silver. The “Promise Chalice” of 1613 is still in use. Cultural events are held in the Cathedral throughout the year and details of these can be obtained by calling the number below. Open Mon- Sat 9am -5pm. Admission Free but donations towards the upkeep of the building are welcome. Sunday Services: 8am,11am and 4pm. Weekday services:10.30am Mon- Fri.
