The Lough Foyle Ferry operates a car ferry service from Greencastle, Co. Donegal to Magilligan in Co. Londonderry. Crossing time is just under 15 minutes and results in a saving of 78kms (49miles) driving! No advance booking is required and fares paid on board. The ferry crosses on the hour from Greencastle from 9am to 7pm (8pm July and August) and at quarter past the hour from Magilligan.
Greencastle is a jumping off point for exploring Inishowen Penninsula which is full of hidden treasures. Most notably are Malin Head, the isle of Ireland’s most northly point and Kinnegoe Bay, a long sandy beach backed by a steep green hill. Or, alternatively, consider the ferry as a way to arrive in Northern Ireland and enjoy a fabulous day trip from Downhill, taking in all the best that the Antrim coast has to offer.
