The National Botanic Gardens are an oasis of calm
and beauty in the city. They are noted for their
fine plant collections, holding over 16,000 plant
species and cultivars from a variety of habitats
from all around the world. They are home to over
300 endangered plant species from Ireland and
abroad. Famous features include the historic
and architecturally renowned Turner Curvilinear
Range, the Great Palm House, a native plants section, the organic fruit and vegetable
garden, the arboretum, the rose garden, the rock garden and the pond area. There is
an extensive programme of events including art exhibitions, lectures, themed walks,
workshops and demonstrations.
Open: Mon-Fri 9am–5pm, Sat/Sun/BH 10am-6pm
(Mar-mid-Oct); Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm, Sat/Sun/BH 10am-4.30pm (mid-Oct-Feb).
Admission is free. Guided tours €5 pp. Guided tours are available Mon-Sat
11.30am & 3.00pm €5 per person. Free tours on Sundays at 12.00pm and 2.30pm.
