Central Library
This red sandstone and black granite building was opened in 1888 – the same year Belfast achieved city status. A grand staircase sweeps upward from the ground floor, and the first floor Reading Room boasts a fine domed ceiling. Should you be inspired to peruse the tomes, head for the particularly renowned Belfast Ulster and Irish Studies Library and Music Library. Chapter One cafe and regular events and exhibiitons will feed the body and mind. Internet access is payable for non-members (ID required).
