The World Famous Slattery’s Bar was established
in 1870 and has many original Victorian features.
It has hosted some of the greats of Irish music; U.2
and Thin Lizzy had gigs here while Van Morrison,
Christy Moore and The Chieftans were regulars.
This tradition continues today with live music
every weekend. Slattery’s is open from 7am daily
and serves the best Irish breakfast in Dublin, as
recommended by Anthony Bourdain. Food is served until late. Live sports are
shown on big screens and if its Guinness you are after, you won’t find a better pint.”
You can smell St James gate from the front door”! During the Easter Rising, Slattery’s
provided shelter and sustenance to rebels during the worst of the fighting at the
nearby GPO. Their excellent 1916 commemorative wall is not to be missed. As well
as photographs they have interesting authentic uniforms, medals, documents and
weaponry on view.
Open: 7am daily.
